Now is the Time to Embrace Instagram Marketing - COVID 19

INSTAGRAM MARKETING |  6 min read

As COVID-19 wreaks havoc across the world, the maritime industry has been hit particularly intensely with the closing of cruise ships, tour boats, and travel excursions, as well as all of the 2020 boat shows slated for this spring and summer.

Coronavirus is not something to take lightly as this highly contagious virus has produced 6,500 deaths worldwide and counting.

Borders are shutting, Italian doctors can’t handle the hospitalization cases in the country, and local economies are bracing for the worse.

If you were counting on these boat shows as a time to come into contact with your ideal buyer, the good news is that you can still make contact with them virtually – right through social media.

During a time of panic, hysteria, and uncertainty, it’s so important that we all soldier on and do our part to keep our country’s economy churning along, which means your activity on social media could be helping the entire community once we all emerge from this pandemic.

As you face off the inevitable of investing in marine social media marketing, which will only help your company in the future, here are some of our tips for restructuring your marketing outreach this week:

1. Start with Instagram

Did you know that Instagram is not only the fastest-growing social media site right now, but it also has over 1 billion daily active users

It’s a massive marketplace where content is shared, purchased, and commented on by people around the world.

Since the nature of the marine industry is visual, and buyers want to get some kind of imagery related to your boats, they are going to use Instagram to find you.

Provide them with the content they seek on your brand new account.

2. Don’t Forget Video

Video is the most consumed form of content on social media today.

Beyond the comments, the articles, and even the images, people want to see video of your company, your products, your boats, etc.

That’s probably why TikTok is taking off with lightning speed.

Provide these people with the videos they want to see so they feel more confident in their boat purchase, right through their phones.

3. Get Creative with What You Have

We’re about to be “working from home” for probably 4-weeks or longer.

You might not have everything you want at your disposal, but get creative.

Post pictures of your team working from home on social media.

Humanize your brand.

Take this time to build up a community around your brand and your core values.

Allow yourself to get creative.
