Why Do You Need to Care About Instagram?

INSTAGRAM MARKETING |  6 min read

by Luis Salazar, November 18, 2019
Instagram is all the rage today, and for good reason.

As the fastest growing social media app in existence, Instagram will soon unseat Facebook as the most used social media platform on a daily basis.

Right now, there are over 1 billion users, with 500 million daily active users logging onto the platform, hitting the “like” button 4.2 billion times per day.

It’s not just a place where people can fawn over travels and models in photos, either.

Instagram influencers are making a serious living for themselves.

Plus, it’s one of the most effective places to market to younger generations.

Nearly one out of every two users are between the ages of 30 to 49 on Instagram (47%). Instagram also boasts an average of 23% more engagement than their Facebook counterparts.

What’s so amazing about Instagram is that you can use multiple sub-sections of this singular app to reach consumers.

You have:

Instagram Posts
Here is where you can post what’s known as “static” content. Every single day, you can post a video, a photo, or up to 8-photos to your profile, accompanied by 29 hashtags that work as search words in the tool bar.
Instagram Stories
Don’t forget about that fleeting content that’s so popular with younger audiences today!

Instagram stories is where you can post gifs, boomerangs, photos, or videos of up to 15-seconds that disappear after 24-hours.

You can throw on, hashtags, animations, and text to make the stories engaging and less “beautiful” than the static posts.
Instagram Highlights
Once your story is done, you can archive it in what’s known as Instagram highlights, right on your profile.

This is a great way to present a collection of content per a product or service.

In your case, you can have a highlight for each boat you are selling (Crewboats, Patrol boats, ferries, tugboats, pilot boats, etc).
Instagram Ads
Through Instagram ads or boosted posts, you can target ideal consumers at just $5 per day.
Instagram TV
Instagram wants to unseat YouTube, owned by Google.

Therefore, there is an entire Instagram TV component where you can record videos as long as you want, cross-promoting them to the platform.

It’s an all-in-one Snapchat, YouTube, and Facebook-style experience, bundled into one mobile app that doesn’t enable posting from desktop computers.
Suffice to say, Instagram is one of the most effective ways for you to increase your marine business younger traffic (soon to be old).

Through photos, videos, and text posts, you can develop a loyal following that looks forward to the content and imagery you provide on a weekly basis.
Lastly, as someone who owns two marine Instagram pages, with a network over 125,000 (at the time of this publication) engaged followers, I’m sharing my Instagram marketing experience with you.
